Help School Board trim the budget

Goffstown voters sent a clear message to town and school officials on March 9, demanding their taxes remain as low as possible.

Voters accepted both the town and school proposed budgets, each lower than the default. A $948,000 bond for town vehicles was also rejected.

Residents are facing a sizeable increase in school taxes alone, and for many, the extra money will be hard to come up with.

Now it’s up to the School Board to find a way to trim nearly $1 million from its budget, and teacher and support staff layoffs, user fees for sports participants and other unpopular expense reductions will be considered.

A meeting to discuss where to slash the budget takes place Monday, March 15, at 7 p.m., at Goffstown High School.

Be sure to let the School Board know where you think your tax money is best spent, and where to trim the budget. It’s your community, and your money.
